MatthewMedia Privacy Policy
Applies to the MatthewMedia player app for Roku and other TVs, and to MatthewMedia Server. Last updated October 2026.
The short version
MatthewMedia is a player for a media server that you, or someone you know, runs. The app talks only to the server address you type in. The maker of the app does not run that server, does not receive your viewing activity, and does not collect, sell or share personal information.
What the app stores on your TV
- The server address you entered.
- A device key the server gave your TV after you entered your access code. It lets the TV stay signed in.
Choosing "Sign out" in the app removes both from the TV and tells the server to cancel the key.
What the app sends, and to whom
The app sends requests only to the server you connected it to: your access code when you sign in, the name and model of the TV, what you choose to play, and your place in a video so you can pick up where you stopped. Nothing is sent to the app's maker, to advertisers or to analytics services. The app contains no advertising and no third-party tracking.
What a MatthewMedia Server keeps
A server is run by its owner, not by the app's maker. A server keeps: the names of the people its owner has invited, a scrambled form of their access codes, the list of signed-in devices with the time each was last used, and each person's place in the videos they have watched. The owner of the server can see that list and can remove a person or a device at any time. Ask the owner of the server you use if you want your information removed.
Roku
Roku, Inc. may collect information about the use of apps on Roku devices under its own privacy policy. MatthewMedia does not receive that information.
Children
MatthewMedia is a general-purpose player and is not directed to children under 13. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
